Here's to the Journey

Here's to the journey
The long roads
And even longer nights
Not a lot of familiar faces along the way
Only just a couple dozen bull haulers
With chicken lights guiding the way
The road never ends
And hell, the treads wear thin
But when you're nose to the grindstone
Those midnight moons
Bluff-howling' coyotes
Become kingpin
Because without the site of wild buckskins
And sound of rolling tires
There's no chase and thrill
And neon-lit signs
Pushing you to inch closer to that damn dream
Steadfast down the highway you go,
One mile closer
Knowing that the journey never ends
And life never quits
Surely everyone dies
But not everyone lives.
